LiberTEA: They Called Us Enemy - SRP In-Person

Students entering 7th to 12th grade are invited to sip tea or lemonade while we discuss racism, activism, and reconciliation.

Participants should read the graphic novel before attending on June 24th. You can pick up a copy in the children's room.

They Called Us Enemy

They Called Us Enemy by George Takei: In 1942, at the order of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, every person of Japanese descent on the west coast was rounded up and shipped to one of ten "relocation centers," where they would be held for years under armed guard. They Called Us Enemy is Takei's firsthand account of those years behind barbed wire. What does it mean to be American? Who gets to decide? When the world is against you, what can one person do?
