The Massachusetts Catholic Order of Foresters: Mortuary Files

The Massachusetts Catholic Order of Foresters: Mortuary Files In-Person

This will be in-person.

The Massachusetts Catholic Order of Forester (M.C.O.F.) records are a unique genealogical collection containing valuable information about Massachusetts Irish Catholic Ancestors and their family. The M.C.O.F. was a fraternal insurance society for the Irish Catholics of Massachusetts founded in 1879 to help provide financial security to the community. The collection contains membership applications, death certificates, beneficiary information, and letters. The membership applications are the best part. For the applicant to obtain a policy, they had to disclose detailed medical information for his/her immediate family (parents & siblings).  The researcher will also learn how the M.C.O.F. records connect to other genealogical record groups of interest.
