Genealogy Club (Virtual): First Steps in Scottish Genealogy Online
This will be online via Zoom.
Approximately 8% of Americans have ancestors who came from Scotland, and a further 10% descend from Ulster Scots (the “Scotch-Irish”), making this one of the largest ethnic groups in our American melting pot. In this introductory program on Scottish genealogy, we will learn how to trace families through Scottish records, focusing on the core vital records, church, and census records available online. We will also look at patterns of immigration to America, and dispel some myths related to Scotland and its people.
Robert Cameron Weir is a professional genealogist in Dover, New Hampshire. He is the grandson of a Scottish immigrant. He has a certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University’s Center for Professional Education and is a member of the Association for Professional Genealogists.
