Genealogy Club: Tracing Your English Ancestors (Online)

Genealogy Club: Tracing Your English Ancestors (Online) Online

This is a virtual program via Zoom.

Join Jan Murphy and Linda MacIver as they prepare you to cross the pond to your ancestral roots with techniques to guide you through census decades 1841-1939 and the years of civil registration to the period back from 1837 into the wonderful world of parish registers, manorial records and wills.

Janice is a British citizen who was born and raised in the industrial county of Staffordshire, England. There have been some surprises digging into the family tree no more so than when she discovered that her Gt. Gt. Grandfather was one of the first men in the town to own a motor car, that a Gt. Aunt was also a teacher, a Gt. Grandfather was a bigamist with at least three wives and 6 children and that her 2nd cousin 3x removed is Catherine E. Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge, England.  Janice lives in Chelmsford, MA. and is the coordinator of the Chelmsford Genealogy Club.

Linda B. MacIver is an educator, lecturer, librarian and genealogy researcher.  She recently retired from a 27- year career at the Boston Public Library where she inaugurated the BPL patron genealogy classes.  She taught the multi-week beginners’ genealogy course, organized two extremely popular seasons of the Local and Family History series and developed the Intermediate Genealogy Summer Lecture series.   Linda is past Secretary and Civil Records Director for Federal Records for the Massachusetts Genealogical Council and a member of the Massachusetts Society of Genealogists (MSOG) and the Essex (MA) Society of Genealogists (ESOG.) She serves as the New England Representative for the Essex (England!) Record Office.
