CANCELED Austen Book Club: Persuasion, by Jane Austen In-Person
This event has been rescheduled to November 2021.
Whether you're new to Jane Austen or an avid Janeite, you'll have fun in this inclusive group for all who love Jane Austen. The group meets the second Wednesday of the month.
• This Month's Selection: Persuasion, by Jane Austen • The ultimate "second chance love story," Persuasion tells the story of Anne Elliot, who at 27 years old Jane Austen’s most mature and relatable protagonist. Anne has spent the last eight years of her life regretting a decision she made at the tender age of nineteen, when she turned down Frederick Wentworth, the love of her life, on the advice of a trusted family friend. Ever since, her life has all but stopped. Anne's reunion with Wentworth - amidst a series of obstacles deigned to keep them apart - is probably the most moving love passage in all of literature.
An FREE online version of "Persuasion" is available here. Hard copies are also available at the library.
