CRASE Class - Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events In-Person
Our instructor, John Watkins, advises that attending a CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) class is valuable for several reasons:
- **Preparedness:** In an active shooter situation, knowing what to do can significantly increase your chances of survival. CRASE training equips you with strategies to make quick, informed decisions under pressure, such as when to run, hide, or defend yourself.
- **Empowerment:** Active shooter events are unpredictable and chaotic, often leading to feelings of helplessness. CRASE training can help reduce fear and anxiety by giving you practical tools and knowledge, allowing you to feel more in control of your safety.
- **Awareness:** The class teaches you to be more aware of your surroundings, recognizing potential threats, and understanding escape routes and safe areas in various environments, whether at work, school, or public places.
- **Life-Saving Skills:** The techniques learned in a CRASE class, such as how to barricade doors, communicate effectively during an emergency, and defend yourself as a last resort, could save not only your life but also the lives of others around you.
- **Community Resilience:** When more people in a community are trained to respond effectively to active shooter events, it enhances overall community safety. In a crisis, a well-prepared community can act swiftly and cohesively, potentially reducing casualties.
- **Practical Experience:** CRASE classes often include scenario-based training, which allows you to practice your response in a simulated environment. This hands-on experience can make a significant difference in how you react if you ever face a real-life situation.
Overall, attending a CRASE class is a proactive step in ensuring your safety and the safety of those around you in today's world, where active shooter events, though rare, can happen anywhere.
This class is recommended for ages 13+. Parental discretion is advised.
