Genealogy Club: Strategies and Hints for Researching Your French-Canadian Ancestors

Genealogy Club: Strategies and Hints for Researching Your French-Canadian Ancestors In-Person

Basic steps for starting your family tree will be touched upon, followed by a broad review of the reliable resources specific to French-Canadian research. We’ll cover the use of church records, census records, town and state records, border crossings, draft registrations, newspaper archives and various free and subscription internet sites. DNA testing, in its relation to genealogy, will be briefly touched upon.

Presented by Gerry Savard.

Gerry Savard was past president of the American-Canadian Genealogical Society and the New England Regional Genealogical Consortium.  Gerry has been doing genealogical research for over 30 years, has volunteered as a researcher at ACGS and has given many classes targeted towards using the various resources available to French-Canadian researchers in particular but also genealogy research in general.
